About

Factors that contribute to health are many, varied, and multifaceted. We often believe that we have little control over the wider determinants of health, such as which country we are born in, the health and wealth of our parents, or whether we are lucky enough to live in a country free from political instability. Factors such as these, which have an enormous impact on the trajectory of our lives often seem beyond the scope of university students, and it is all too easy to succumb to feelings of powerlessness. We at UHAD believe that through both organised social efforts and the determination of students to generate a sustainable society to inherit, that we can create meaningful change. We believe that we can improve not only the health of individuals, but the health of society as a whole. We have decided that it's time to start thinking about health beyond the hospital.

Universal Health At Deakin, UHAD is a student run global health group aimed at inspiring Deakin University students to be the change of the future. The inaugural Global Health Conference 'Global Health Unzipped' is here, and the speakers we have managed to swindle will take your conceptualisation of health to a whole new level.

To find out more, come along to our conference, Global Health Unzipped. We have lined up a politician, a human rights lawyer, top researchers, the CEO of an international aid agency and more.
